On the weekend I had a game of 2v2. I was going to do a battle report but I've learnt it's importent to take notes, because I'm buggered if I can remember what happened to anyone else in the game, other than when I was directly involed.
It was myself (nids) and Stir (Orks) up against Dimble (Tau) and Nasi (Space Marines). It was a table quarters deployment and there were four objectives, two in each deployment zones. Stir and I deployed first and had the first turn.
I do remember the first turn was brutal. We managed to kill one Space Marine (one of my Biovores) before the brutal return fire. I lost 17 out of my 18 Hormagaunts, a unit of Genestealers (6 strong) and my Hive Tyrant took two wounds. Stir got shot to pieces as well. It seemed like the big guns would never end.

Hive Fleet Manticore
Currently I'm working on a Tyranid army. I've always wanted a Nid army but was intimidated by the massive amount of models you need to paint and the complexity of many of the models. Eventually I decided to have a go and started painting up a few of the gaunts to see what color scheme I liked.
The green came about because I had an old green ink that painted over white and gave awesome highlights with ease. Could there be an easier way to paint models?! Oh course, I ran out quickly and GW no longer does inks. Fortunatly Scorpian Green with a heavy Thraka wash gave the exact same colour. Hurrah!
I'm not exactly sure why the orange (Fiery Orange). I know that I wanted to give them a completly alien look, something that made no sense to us mere planet dwellers. Once I tried the Orange I feel in love with it.
I give them all a gloss finish, trying to emulate a slimy feel, like they had recently been birthed. I've also tried to keep the green skin a little patchy.
The fleet in all it's glory. It looks like a lot more on the table top :(

Wot's goin' on 'ere then?
Ah, the first post on a new blog. Feels like this one really needs to zing, despite the fact this is very much a side project, an idle amusement and random ramblings about the world of Warhammer 40k. So zing it will not.
We'll start with a bit of table top gaming history for yours truly. I still, vividly, remember my first encounter with table top games. I was around 11 or 12 and it was on a week long school camp. One of the guys had a game called Hero Quest and it was awesome. We did know, nor use, the proper rules, but we had a blast. I was completely enchanted by everything to do with it - the models, the board, the magic, all of it.
Suffice to say when I got home, three or four tantrums later, I had my own copy of Hero Quest. I had a couple of friends and we played, a lot. Including some great expansions. I remember being amazed at the orges when they came out.
