Not quiet a battle report

On the weekend I had a game of 2v2. I was going to do a battle report but I've learnt it's importent to take notes, because I'm buggered if I can remember what happened to anyone else in the game, other than when I was directly involed.

It was myself (nids) and Stir (Orks) up against Dimble (Tau) and Nasi (Space Marines). It was a table quarters deployment and there were four objectives, two in each deployment zones. Stir and I deployed first and had the first turn.

I do remember the first turn was brutal. We managed to kill one Space Marine (one of my Biovores) before the brutal return fire. I lost 17 out of my 18 Hormagaunts, a unit of Genestealers (6 strong) and my Hive Tyrant took two wounds. Stir got shot to pieces as well. It seemed like the big guns would never end.

Turn two was a little different though. Again I cannot remember nearly enough, but my second unit of Genestealers made combat with a unit of Fire Warriors, which they ate. My Hive Tyrant destroyed a combat squad of space marines and Stir got busy in melee as well.

From there is really is a haze, but the highlights were my 'stealers wiping out another squad of Fire Warriors and a combat squad of marines before the last of them feel in CC to a devastor squad - although they took three for four with them, getting close to 20 kills for the game. My Venoms got into combat with some kind of ninja Tau in what turned into the most laughable CC ever. No wounds were scored in five consecutive assault turns. Terrible.

My Zoanthropes did almost nothing for their third game in a row. When faced with a squad of Space Marine scouts in the closing turns of the game they managed to fail both thier pshyic tests, one of them killing themselves in the process. Three games and they've killed one Marine and one Tau jetbike thingy. Time to bench them I think.

The Biovores had their best showing, taking out half a dozers Marines and a heap of Kroot. I'm still not sold on them against Marines but I'm adding a third and we'll see how we go.

In the end we won the game 2 objectives to one. While my 'nids performed pretty well, the 'stealers in particular, it was Stir who held the two objectives and contested the third.

It was really enjoyable the way the teams ended up too. Two very shooty armies vs two very CC armies. Turn one felt like it went forever as shot after shot was poured into our army, but turn it it started to swing dramatically as we made CC.

I've got a little habit of placing trophies on units that do something noteworthy. My Hive Tyrant has two on his base (a Thunder Hammer after killing a Space Marine chapter master and a missile embedded in the ground after surviving 12 missile shots in one game), my Carnifex has one (a Tank Storm Bolter after ripping a Land Raiders to shreds) and the newest in my 'stealers, getting a Gun Drone on the base after their fantastic effort.

Thanks Dimble!!
